DMK president M.K. Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to stop deceiving citizens with hollow rhetoric and cosmetic statistical presentations, demanding concrete administrative action to rescue Chennai from the escalating coronavirus crisis. Stalin emphasized that the government must designate the five most severely impacted municipal zones of Chennai as strict containment areas, establishing protective administrative perimeters and supplying all essential groceries directly to residents' doorsteps.
Stalin stressed that effective containment cannot succeed without providing immediate economic protection to working-class households confined to their homes. He reiterated the DMK's consistent demand for distributing emergency financial assistance of five thousand rupees to every ration-card-holding family, ensuring that impoverished residents can afford food, medicines, and basic necessities during lockdowns. Forcing families into economic destitution while enforcing movement restrictions without supportive food delivery leads to desperation, non-compliance, and intensified public distress.
Stalin declared that the critical hour demands substantive executive action rather than empty press conferences and political posturing. He called upon the state government to deploy adequate administrative manpower, mobilize healthcare resources, and erect an impenetrable protective barrier to curb viral transmission and safeguard urban populations.
