DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a stern warning to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, stating that the government's reckless obstinacy in scheduling tenth standard public examinations during a lethal pandemic represents a dangerous gamble with student lives. Stalin demanded that the state administration immediately cancel the board examinations, declaring that as the responsible democratic opposition, the DMK has a constitutional duty to prevent ruling politicians from pursuing hidden bureaucratic agendas at the expense of children.
Stalin pointed out that conducting examinations requiring extensive public transit, classroom congregation, and paper distribution in the midst of skyrocketing infection numbers is completely indefensible. In Chennai and surrounding districts where thousands of containment zones were sealed, expecting students to maintain emotional calm and sit for high-stakes examinations is deeply cruel. The state government cannot sacrifice student safety simply to protect administrative pride or mask institutional indecision.
Stalin urged the Chief Minister to abandon all hesitation, listen to distressed parents, and issue an order for mass promotion without delay. He reiterated that protecting human lives and physical health must remain the foundational priority of any civilized government during an unprecedented health crisis.
