DMK president M.K. Stalin highlighted the stark policy contrast between neighboring states and Tamil Nadu, pointing out that Telangana decided to cancel tenth standard examinations and promote all students when its caseload was only 3,650 infections. In glaring contrast, the AIADMK administration in Tamil Nadu stubbornly insisted on herding nine lakh students into examination centers even as cumulative confirmed infections surged past 33,229 cases.
Stalin questioned the administrative sanity of conducting statewide mass examinations under pandemic conditions ten times more severe than those in neighboring states. While other state administrations listened attentively to public health advisors and prioritized youth welfare, the Palaniswami government remained trapped in bureaucratic inertia and obstinate pride. Exposing school children, teachers, and their elderly family members to high-risk environments during widespread viral spread constitutes an irresponsible gamble with public health.
Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to follow the pragmatic model demonstrated by the Telangana government, even if the ruling party refused to acknowledge the DMK's consistent warnings. He demanded an immediate announcement canceling all school board examinations across Tamil Nadu to protect vulnerable students.
