DMK president M.K. Stalin called upon Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to cast aside rigid obstinacy and cancel the tenth standard board examinations during the high-level review meeting convened on June 9, 2020. Stalin stressed that the impending decision involves not merely examination logistics or departmental prestige, but the health, well-being, and future security of nine lakh students and the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin pointed out that compelling millions of young students, invigilators, and parents to travel across containment zones and gather in crowded examination centers amid exponential viral spread is an act of unpardonable recklessness. When medical experts, epidemiologists, educational associations, and parents unanimously voiced grave apprehension, clinging to bureaucratic stubbornness reflects a dangerous detachment from ground reality. An administration that prioritizes bureaucratic vanity over student lives risks triggering widespread community transmission across every town and village.
Stalin appealed directly to the Chief Minister to heed public sentiment, listen to medical guidance, and announce unconditional promotion for all tenth standard candidates. He emphasized that compassionate, decisive leadership during a public health emergency requires putting human lives ahead of administrative obstinacy.
