DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the AIADMK administration to discard the mistaken belief that enforcing blunt, repeated lockdowns alone will eradicate the coronavirus pandemic. Stalin pointed out that while restrictions temporarily slow transmission rates, lasting disease control requires aggressive diagnostic testing, meticulous contact tracing, timely medical isolation, and well-equipped treatment facilities across every district in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin observed that prolonged lockdowns inflict severe economic hardship upon daily wage laborers, informal workers, and small business owners without curbing viral spread if medical interventions remain deficient. The state government must operate with total scientific transparency, publishing daily diagnostic testing statistics, bed vacancies, and medical resource allocations rather than relying on administrative obfuscation. Concealing infection clusters or throttling testing numbers simply postpones systemic crises and places vulnerable communities in grave peril.
Stalin called upon Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to focus entirely on public health fundamentals, allocate generous financial assistance to affected families, and implement evidence-based containment strategies. He reaffirmed that transparent administrative governance, clinical readiness, and proactive public cooperation constitute the only effective pathway to overcome the public health crisis safely.
