நெருக்கடி காலத்தில் வாய்த்தகராறுக்கும் உயிர் பறிப்பா?

DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound shock and indignation upon learning that trader Jayaraj and his son Bennix, who were detained by Sathankulam police over a minor shop timing dispute during lockdown restrictions, had both died while in custody. Stalin stated that it is utterly horrific and unacceptable that a routine verbal disagreement could escalate into fatal custodial violence under a civilized democratic administration.
Stalin pointed out that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, who directly holds the state Home portfolio, bears direct constitutional responsibility for the conduct and discipline of the police department. He questioned how officers could feel emboldened to unleash fatal brutality on ordinary traders unless they were confident of political protection from administrative superiors. When law enforcement personnel act with such savage disregard for human life, the minister in charge cannot evade direct accountability through silence or procedural delays.
Stalin demanded immediate, transparent answers from the Chief Minister regarding the circumstances of the custodial deaths, alongside uncompromising legal prosecution against every officer involved. He insisted that the government ensure full justice for the grieving family without institutional cover-ups.
