DMK president M.K. Stalin noted that the local police administration had systematically attempted to cover up the crime from the very beginning, creating justified public skepticism regarding the fairness of any internal state police probe. When law enforcement officers themselves stand accused of extreme cruelty and homicide inside a police station, independent judicial oversight becomes essential to uncover the truth and preserve crucial physical evidence.
