DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the tragic death of construction worker Ganesamoorthy in Ettayapuram, who took his own life after suffering severe physical assault and humiliation by local police officers. Stalin observed that even while the state was convulsed in grief and outrage over the custodial killings of Jayaraj and Bennix, another innocent working-class man in Thoothukudi district was driven to death by brutal police harassment.
Stalin expressed deep anguish that Thoothukudi district is turning into a lethal zone of police violence and administrative terror under the current government. He questioned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on whether the administration is committed to protecting innocent citizens or shielding rogue police personnel who abuse their uniforms to torment vulnerable daily wage workers. Allowing police cruelty to proceed unchecked demonstrates catastrophic failure of executive control over the state police force.
Stalin demanded immediate criminal prosecution against the officers responsible for assaulting Ganesamoorthy, alongside comprehensive financial support for his grief-stricken family. He insisted that the Tamil Nadu government immediately end police impunity and uphold fundamental constitutional rights and protections for all citizens across every district.
