DMK president M.K. Stalin conducted comprehensive virtual consultations with local body representatives from Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Dharmapuri, and Karur districts to assess critical rural concerns regarding agriculture and drinking water availability. During the interactive sessions, grassroots leaders presented detailed accounts of neglected irrigation channels, acute drinking water shortages in remote habitations, and disrupted farm livelihoods during the pandemic lockdown.

Stalin noted that rural elected representatives serve as the primary link between citizens and public administration, yet their persistent warnings and ground realities have been completely sidelined by the state government. He urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to halt self-promotional publicity campaigns and instead dedicate administrative machinery toward addressing genuine grassroots distress across rural Tamil Nadu. Empty political posturing cannot substitute for delivering clean drinking water, repairing community water bodies, and supporting farmers during crucial cultivation cycles.

Stalin commended the dedication of local representatives who continue serving rural communities under immense resource constraints. He assured them that an incoming DMK government will empower panchayat institutions, decentralize administrative decision-making, and ensure equitable resource distribution for all rural development works throughout the state.
