DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound outrage over the shocking incident where local police personnel used insolent language and physical intimidation against a Judicial Magistrate conducting a statutory inquiry into the Sathankulam custodial deaths of Jayaraj and Bennix. The blatant harassment compelled the magistrate to transfer inquiry proceedings to Tiruchendur for personal safety. Stalin asked what had become of the rule of law in Tamil Nadu when law enforcement officers openly threatened a judicial officer inside a police station.
Stalin questioned who was truly governing the state, asking whether constitutional authority had been surrendered to rogue police factions operating without legal constraints. He asserted that when an administration lacks the fortitude to protect the judiciary and arrest killer policemen, the Chief Minister forfeits all moral and administrative justification to continue in office. Stalin stated that such brazen defiance of the judicial system represented an unprecedented breakdown of constitutional governance in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin demanded immediate criminal prosecution against every police officer involved in intimidating the magistrate. He warned that the DMK will resist this creeping police raj with full democratic force, ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
