DMK president M.K. Stalin directed party district secretaries across Tamil Nadu to submit formal representations to their respective District Collectors, demanding the immediate release of transparent, district-wise coronavirus infection, testing, and mortality data. Stalin warned that while the viral contagion had begun to surge aggressively through rural villages and mofussil towns, ruling party ministers and administrative spokespersons were squandering precious time by stubbornly denying the existence of community transmission.
Stalin emphasized that rural communities face severe structural vulnerabilities, including poorly equipped primary health centers, acute shortages of oxygen cylinders, and a lack of trained intensive care medical personnel. He cautioned that if the state government fails to immediately prepare rural administrative machinery and establish decentralized medical facilities, the countryside will confront a catastrophic public health disaster. He criticized the government for prioritizing political public relations maneuvers over genuine epidemiological readiness, leaving millions of rural families defenseless against infection waves.
Stalin demanded that District Collectors establish transparent coordination mechanisms with local representatives, ramp up rural molecular testing, and publish daily village-level health bulletins. He affirmed that the DMK will continue to monitor rural epidemic containment vigorously to safeguard vulnerable populations across Tamil Nadu.
