DMK president M.K. Stalin highlighted a startling discrepancy between statements made by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and senior Tamil Nadu government officials regarding central financial assistance for procuring medical equipment during the pandemic. While the Union Finance Minister publicly announced that the central government had disbursed 6,600 crore rupees to Tamil Nadu for medical infrastructure and supplies, state health department officials contradicted her by asserting that the state had received barely 1,500 crore rupees.

Stalin demanded to know which version of the financial accounting is true, and why Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami maintained a suspicious silence on such a massive gap of over five thousand crore rupees. If state officials are correct in stating that vital health funds were withheld by New Delhi, Stalin questioned why the Chief Minister lacked the political courage to demand the balance allocation from the central government. Conversely, if funds were indeed received, citizens have the right to know how they were spent.

Stalin asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu deserve total transparency regarding pandemic disaster expenditures. He demanded that the state administration publish a comprehensive white paper detailing all financial transfers and equipment procurements.
