DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded an immediate Central Bureau of Investigation probe into procedural violations surrounding the controversial transfer of the Chief Engineer of the Directorate of Municipal Administration. Stalin questioned why administrative service rules and seniority protocols were discarded to orchestrate this specific engineering transfer, asking whether the maneuver was designed as a protective shield for Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani to execute contracts worth twelve thousand crore rupees without bureaucratic oversight.
Stalin pointed out that eleven months had elapsed without any credible official explanation from Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding serious allegations of systemic tender manipulation, inflated project estimates, and political favoritism within the municipal administration department. He asserted that bypassing statutory administrative procedures to install compliant officials in sensitive procurement posts represents an egregious abuse of executive authority designed to conceal large-scale public corruption. Stalin challenged the Chief Minister to demonstrate administrative integrity by consenting to a transparent, independent investigation.
Stalin affirmed that the public deserves complete truth and accountability regarding the deployment of thousands of crores in municipal development funds. He pledged that an incoming DMK government will thoroughly investigate every irregular tender sanctioned during this tenure.
