DMK president M.K. Stalin formally submitted a detailed set of expert medical recommendations to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, urging the state government to adopt a scientifically grounded strategy to control the expanding coronavirus epidemic. Stalin observed that while viral transmission persisted at alarming levels across Chennai, infection clusters were now multiplying rapidly across rural districts, threatening fragile healthcare infrastructure outside major urban centers.
Drawing from consultations with renowned epidemiologists, public health specialists, and medical practitioners, Stalin presented practical measures to enhance epidemic response. These included scaling up reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction testing, deploying mobile medical units in rural panchayats, and establishing dedicated triage facilities to prevent hospital overcrowding. Stalin emphasized that alongside virus containment, the government must formulate a clear operational plan ensuring uninterrupted treatment for non-coronavirus patients suffering from chronic ailments like cardiac illnesses, cancer, kidney diseases, and emergency maternal conditions.
Stalin stressed that responsible opposition governance involves presenting constructive policy solutions to save human lives during public crises. He urged the Chief Minister to act swiftly upon the expert recommendations to strengthen healthcare delivery across all districts of Tamil Nadu.
