DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Central Board of Secondary Education for deleting crucial chapters regarding Tamil history and social reform from its school curriculum under the pretext of pandemic course reductions. Stalin pointed out the stark contradiction in Prime Minister Narendra Modi quoting from the classical Tamil ethical treatise Thirukkural while attired in military uniform, even as his administration removed lessons detailing the valiant contributions of Tamils to the armed forces.
Stalin criticized the deletion of vital portions covering the Tamil epic Silappathikaram, the rationalist philosophy of Thanthai Periyar, and the border liberation struggles spearheaded by Ma. Po. Sivagnanam. He asserted that systematically erasing the historic struggles, cultural achievements, and social justice heritage of Tamil society from national educational textbooks reveals a regressive ideological agenda aimed at linguistic and cultural hegemony. Stalin warned that if the central authorities refuse to reinstate these essential lessons, the ruling BJP would fail to secure even the votes polled by NOTA in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin demanded the immediate restoration of all deleted chapters, affirming that Tamil cultural identity and historical contributions cannot be diminished by bureaucratic curriculum committees.
