DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the criminal vandalism of three Hindu temples in Coimbatore, describing the incidents as reprehensible acts aimed at disturbing communal peace and social harmony. Stalin emphasized that places of worship deserve absolute protection and reverence, and that any attempt to generate religious friction or public anxiety must be dealt with firmly through stringent legal action.
Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to instruct state law enforcement agencies to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators immediately. He stressed that the state government must ensure that fringe criminal acts are not exploited by vested political interests to divert public scrutiny away from urgent crisis issues, including escalating pandemic infections, hospital bed shortages, and economic distress. Ensuring swift justice through transparent police investigation, he noted, is essential to reassure devotees and preserve civic tranquility.
Stalin reiterated that the Dravidian movement has always stood for communal harmony, mutual respect, and the rule of law. He called upon citizens across Coimbatore to maintain calm and solidarity, frustrating any sinister attempts to disrupt social unity during an already challenging public health situation.
