DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for repeatedly denying the existence of coronavirus community transmission across Tamil Nadu, likening official statements to a scratched gramophone record. Stalin pointed out that Indian Medical Association national president Dr. V.K. Monga had explicitly cautioned that the epidemic had entered the hazardous community transmission phase in several regions, a clinical assessment also acknowledged by the Kerala state administration.

Stalin highlighted that infection numbers in Chennai had surpassed original epicenters like Wuhan, while cabinet ministers, legislators, and frontline administrative personnel were contracting the viral contagion. Despite clear epidemiological evidence of widespread localized outbreaks, the state administration persisted in denying community spread, creating dangerous public confusion and delaying necessary containment interventions. He asserted that refusing to acknowledge epidemiological reality prevents municipal authorities from deploying aggressive contact tracing, neighborhood quarantines, and decentralized fever clinics.

Stalin urged the government to abandon defensive rhetoric and confront the public health emergency with scientific honesty. He stressed that acknowledging the true scale of community spread is vital to mobilize emergency medical resources, upgrade primary health centers, and protect citizens across Tamil Nadu.
