DMK president M.K. Stalin warmly welcomed former Vedaranyam Member of Legislative Assembly Vedharathinam and his supporters into the party after they resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party. The joining ceremony took place at the DMK headquarters, where Stalin greeted Vedharathinam and his accompanying grassroots workers, commending their decision to align with the Dravidian movement to champion regional welfare, democratic values, and balanced developmental progress across the coastal belt.
Stalin observed that Tamil Nadu has suffered severe socio-economic regression across multiple developmental metrics over the past decade under AIADMK governance. He highlighted that coastal and agrarian constituencies like Vedaranyam have faced persistent neglect regarding marine infrastructure, cyclone rehabilitation, salt industry modernization, and rural livelihoods. He emphasized that reviving the state economy requires broad-based political consolidation of experienced grassroots leaders committed to public service and social justice.
Stalin urged the newly joined cadres to work hand-in-hand with existing party functionaries to build a formidable grassroots network ahead of the assembly elections. He reaffirmed the DMK steadfast dedication to protecting state rights, fostering inclusive rural growth, and restoring clean, accountable administration to Tamil Nadu.
