DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound outrage over the custodial death of fifty-six-year-old farmer Anaikarai Muthu in Tenkasi district, pointing out that this tragedy occurred before the shock of the Sathankulam custodial killings had even subsided. Forest department officials took Muthu into custody late at night without allowing him to wear a shirt, following an alleged inquiry regarding an electric fence, and he subsequently died in official custody.
Stalin questioned whether the rule of law existed in Tamil Nadu under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, noting that custodial brutalities by uniformed personnel had become alarmingly frequent across the state. The repeated occurrence of unlawful detentions, nocturnal arrests, and fatal assaults reflects an absolute absence of administrative oversight and systemic breakdown within law enforcement agencies. Ordinary citizens from rural backgrounds are subjected to barbaric treatment without basic constitutional protections or legal representation.
Extending heartfelt condolences and full organizational solidarity to Anaikarai Muthu's family, Stalin declared that the DMK will fight for complete justice on their behalf. He demanded immediate murder charges against the forest personnel involved, transparent judicial inquiry, and comprehensive financial compensation for the victim's dependents.
