DMK president M.K. Stalin welcomed the historic judgment of the Madras High Court on Other Backward Classes reservation, characterizing it as a momentous victory against four years of systemic injustice perpetrated by the Union BJP government. The court directed the Centre to constitute a committee comprising central and state officials to determine the modalities of implementing OBC reservation in state-surrendered All India Quota medical seats.

Stalin highlighted that whenever social justice faces existential threats, Tamil Nadu rises as a united force to defend constitutional rights. The denial of fifty percent reservation in surrendered seats had deprived over eleven thousand backward and most backward class aspirants of medical education over previous admission cycles. Stalin asserted that the judicial decree vindicates the persistent legal struggles waged by the DMK and its allies to protect educational equity and federal state rights.

Demanding that the Union government implement the verdict immediately rather than pursuing obstructive appeals in the Supreme Court, Stalin insisted on prompt committee deliberations before the current academic counseling begins. He declared that the DMK will remain vigilant, ensuring full constitutional affirmative action for aspiring doctors from marginalized communities.
