After Madras HC's historical judgment, I spoke to leaders of major political parties seeking their support to:
a.Urge the center to convene a committee meeting in priority
b.Include OBC reservation in state contributed medical seats to AIQ
c.Uphold state reservation laws
DMK president M.K. Stalin contacted leaders of major national and regional political parties across India, building consensus to enforce Other Backward Classes reservations in All India Quota medical and dental admissions. Following the landmark judgment delivered by the Madras High Court, Stalin outlined a clear three-point agenda: compelling the Union government to convene the high-level committee on priority, securing OBC reservation in state-contributed seats, and strictly upholding state reservation statutes.
Stalin pointed out that medical seats contributed by state governments to the national pool have been filled without adhering to state-specific affirmative action quotas, unlawfully depriving thousands of backward class students of professional training opportunities. The High Court's judgment affirmed that reservation is not antithetical to merit, creating a vital legal opening to rectify historic administrative injustices perpetrated by central testing authorities.
Urging democratic parties to present a united front, Stalin stressed that joint political pressure is essential to prevent the Union government from delaying compliance through protracted appeals. He declared that the DMK will lead this nationwide campaign until backward class students secure their rightful representation in every government medical and dental college across the country.
