DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the desecration of former Chief Minister and Dravidian icon Perarignar C.N. Anna's statue at Kuzhithurai in Kanniyakumari district, where miscreants tied a saffron flag onto the memorial. Stalin characterized the act as a despicable provocation executed by extremist sectarian elements who lack independent ideological merit and resort to insulting departed national architects to manufacture communal hostility.
Stalin observed that recurring acts of vandalism targeting statues of Periyar and Anna expose a calculated campaign to disrupt social harmony and erase the Dravidian movement's egalitarian legacy. Because regressive forces cannot intellectually counter the transformative social reforms and linguistic self-respect pioneered by Dravidian leaders, they resort to nocturnal cowardice. Stalin held the AIADMK administration responsible for failing to provide adequate protection to public memorials and allowing miscreants to operate with impunity.
Demanding the immediate identification and arrest of all individuals behind the Kuzhithurai incident, Stalin urged law enforcement to take stringent criminal action against communal instigators. He affirmed that the DMK will vigilantly defend the honor of Tamil icons, warning that divisive forces can never dismantle the rationalist consciousness deeply embedded across Tamil Nadu.
