DMK president M.K. Stalin hailed the Supreme Court's historic verdict recognizing that Hindu women have equal inheritance rights in ancestral coparcenary property. Describing the judicial decision as a monumental triumph for social justice, Stalin emphasized that this legal ruling establishes an enduring foundation for the socio-economic empowerment and legal autonomy of women throughout India. He recalled that the Dravidian movement had fought tirelessly for female inheritance equality for nearly a century.

Stalin highlighted that former Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi had enacted pioneering state legislation in 1989 granting daughters equal shares in ancestral property, three decades before the apex court settled the question nationally. Tamil Nadu's progressive legal reform served as an enlightened model that eventually reshaped national legal consciousness. Kalaignar's foresight proved that genuine gender equality requires dismantling patriarchal property barriers and securing independent financial rights for daughters within the family.

Stalin dedicated this national judicial victory to the memory of Kalaignar and the Self-Respect movement founded by Periyar. He declared that the DMK will persistently advance structural policies and statutory protections that elevate women to equal stature across every public and private domain.
