DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a serious warning regarding the alarming escalation of coronavirus infections across Tamil Nadu, pointing out that despite consecutive lockdowns stretching from March to August, the contagion showed no signs of abating. Stalin stated that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's government had failed completely on all critical fronts, including timely epidemic forecasting, diagnostic testing, hospital infrastructure expansion, and adequate distribution of essential medicines and personal protective equipment.
Stalin observed that instead of deploying scientific epidemiological strategies, the ruling administration resorted to opaque data management and superficial publicity campaigns. Healthcare centers in semi-urban and rural districts remained severely understaffed, while vulnerable citizens struggled without financial assistance or nutritional support during protracted lockdown periods. Stalin cautioned that trusting the current government's assurances was futile, advising citizens to take personal responsibility for their health through disciplined preventive measures.
Urging families to practice strict sanitization and mask protocols, Stalin asserted that community solidarity and mutual vigilance must bridge the gap left by state failure. He declared that an incoming DMK administration will restore competent public health governance and comprehensive epidemic response mechanisms.
