DMK president M.K. Stalin reiterated his urgent demand for the complete abolition of the state's e-pass travel permit system, pointing out that arbitrary application rejections had made inter-district travel a nightmare for ordinary working people. Stalin explained that daily wage earners, rural laborers, and families facing emergency situations encountered immense technical hurdles while attempting to access online portal registrations, leading to rampant middleman bribery.
While noting recent minor administrative relaxations announced by the state government, Stalin maintained that partial adjustments were wholly inadequate to resolve citizen distress. He stated that the e-pass framework had become an instrument of bureaucratic harassment that crippled regional economic revival without effectively containing coronavirus spread. Stalin urged the public to exercise high personal caution and undertake travel only for unavoidable medical, domestic, or occupational necessities during the pandemic.
Calling upon Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to scrap the failed travel pass system unconditionally, Stalin asserted that citizen mobility must be regulated through clear public health advisories rather than opaque clerical bottlenecks. He pledged that the DMK will continue championing administrative reforms that alleviate public hardship and restore economic freedom.
