DMK president M.K. Stalin hoisted the national tricolour flag at Anna Arivalayam, the party headquarters in Chennai, commemorating India's seventy-fourth Independence Day. Addressing assembled party functionaries and citizens, Stalin extended warm festival greetings while emphasizing that the core essence of Indian independence lies in safeguarding secular democracy, constitutional equality, and vibrant linguistic diversity across all states of the republic.
Stalin urged the people of Tamil Nadu and the wider nation to rise above narrow divisions of caste, religion, and ethnicity. He warned that authoritarian impulses and sectarian forces currently threaten fundamental constitutional protections that generations of freedom fighters struggled to establish. Preserving national unity requires unwavering commitment to cooperative federalism, regional autonomy, and equal rights for linguistic and cultural minorities, rather than imposing homogeneous cultural dictates.
Paying respectful tribute to freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the motherland, Stalin pledged that the DMK will persistently defend constitutional governance and social justice. He affirmed that true independence will be realized only when economic freedom, democratic liberties, and social dignity reach every marginalized community across rural and urban India.
