Allotment of exam centers outside of Tamil Nadu during #COVID19 disadvantages several Foreign Medical Graduate Exam takers.

I have raised their issues to Hon. @drharshvardhan in a letter submitted by @TRBaaluMP and urge him to address their concerns on priority. https://t.co/L9VFqWzq8W

Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin urged Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to intervene immediately and resolve severe difficulties faced by candidates appearing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. Several medical graduates from Tamil Nadu were arbitrarily allocated examination venues in distant northern states, creating immense hardship amid stringent pandemic travel restrictions and inadequate transportation networks. Stalin conveyed these urgent grievances through an official representation submitted by DMK parliamentary party leader T.R. Baalu.

Stalin pointed out that forcing young doctors to undertake interstate travel during a public health emergency jeopardizes their safety and imposes heavy financial burdens on their families. With irregular train schedules, scarce flight connectivity, and mandatory institutional quarantine rules varying across states, candidates faced unfair disadvantages that could derail their professional licensing. Such administrative indifference toward southern candidates reflects poor logistical planning by central testing authorities.

Urging the Union government to prioritize students' well-being, Stalin demanded the immediate establishment of additional testing centres within Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the nation urgently requires licensed medical professionals to reinforce pandemic response, making it imperative to eliminate artificial bureaucratic hurdles and support aspiring doctors effectively.
