Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound grief and outrage over the suicide of Subashree, a young medical aspirant from Coimbatore who died due to severe distress surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Contacting the grieving family by telephone to offer personal condolences, Stalin stated that the tragic cycle of lost young lives, which began with rural student Anitha, continues unabated due to systemic administrative rigidity.

Stalin termed these recurring student suicides state-sponsored educational homicides, arguing that the unyielding imposition of NEET creates unbearable psychological strain on aspiring youth from rural and working-class backgrounds. He asserted that both Union and state administrations must be held directly accountable for ignoring widespread appeals to scrap the discriminatory evaluation process. Instead of providing empathetic counseling and administrative relief, authorities remain indifferent to youth despair.

Reaffirming the DMK's steadfast commitment to abolishing NEET in Tamil Nadu, Stalin declared that equitable access to medical education remains an inviolable right. He urged struggling students never to abandon hope or resort to extreme measures, pledging relentless political resistance until institutional educational barriers are permanently dismantled across the state.
