DMK president M.K. Stalin paid heroic homage to the legendary anti-colonial warrior Ondiveeran on his memorial day, celebrating his extraordinary courage in fighting single-handedly against British imperialist forces in southern Tamil Nadu. Stalin saluted Ondiveeran as an iconic symbol of indomitable valour and patriotic sacrifice who commanded the revolutionary forces of legendary chieftain Maaveerar Pooli Thevar and inflicted severe defeats upon colonial armies long before the nineteenth century national uprisings.

Stalin proudly recalled that it was the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government under former Chief Minister Muthamizharignar Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi that officially recognized Ondiveeran's historical heroism by sanctioning treasury funds to construct a magnificent memorial hall (Mani Mandapam) in Tirunelveli district, enshrining his glorious legacy in public memory. He noted that the Dravidian movement has always maintained a steadfast commitment to resurrecting, honoring, and popularizing the marginalized histories of subaltern heroes and oppressed warriors who shed their blood for indigenous liberation and social dignity.

Exhorting the people to nurture patriotic values and democratic courage, Stalin affirmed that Ondiveeran's legendary memory will forever inspire the people of Tamil Nadu in their ongoing struggles to protect democratic self-respect and regional autonomy.
