DMK president M.K. Stalin highlighted that the unemployment crisis in Tamil Nadu had deteriorated drastically, surging tenfold within eight months to reach a staggering 49.8 percent during the Covid-19 pandemic. Stalin pointed out that independent economic research surveys revealed that an alarming ninety percent of households across the state suffered the loss of livelihood or income for at least one earning family member, creating widespread financial destitution.
Stalin challenged the AIADMK state administration to publish a detailed, transparent white paper documenting the actual investments realized and real employment opportunities generated through numerous Memoranda of Understanding signed during Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's foreign ministerial tours. He charged that the government's highly publicized industrial investment claims and Global Investors Meets were mere statistical illusions designed for media publicity, completely detached from ground realities where industrial units were shutting down and skilled workers were facing retrenchment.
Urging the government to formulate comprehensive employment revival plans and extend substantial fiscal support to micro, small, and medium enterprises, Stalin stressed that youth cannot be pacified with empty slogans. He affirmed that the DMK will prioritize industrial expansion and job creation.
