DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the casteist harassment, public humiliation, and death threats directed against K. Saritha, the democratically elected Dalit woman panchayat president of J. Krishnapuram in Coimbatore district. Saritha was compelled to submit formal petitions to the district police authorities after dominant caste elements persistently abused her, obstructed her official administrative duties, and issued lethal threats against her life. Stalin expressed profound outrage over the continued victimization of marginalized grassroots leaders.
Stalin questioned whether any citizen or democratically elected public servant enjoys safety and constitutional dignity under the AIADMK administration. He pointed out that when elected local representatives belonging to Scheduled Castes, particularly women leaders, face blatant intimidation and humiliation simply for exercising their constitutionally mandated executive authority, it demonstrates the total failure of the state police machinery and district administration. Allowing dominant reactionary groups to override constitutional democracy undermines social justice and emboldens feudal atrocities across rural Tamil Nadu.
Demanding immediate round-the-clock police security for Saritha, Stalin urged law enforcement authorities to arrest the culprits under stringent provisions of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. He affirmed that the DMK will firmly defend grassroots Dalit leaders.
