DMK president M.K. Stalin warmly welcomed the landmark verdict delivered by the Madras High Court quashing the breach of privilege notices issued by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Privileges Committee against DMK legislators, including himself. The malicious privilege proceedings had been initiated after opposition lawmakers displayed packets of banned Gutkha products inside the legislative chamber to expose their illegal sale and official complicity across Tamil Nadu.

Stalin stated that the High Court judgment decisively shattered an unconstitutional conspiracy orchestrated by the ruling AIADMK government to silence the opposition and suppress public exposure of the multi-crore Gutkha bribery scam. He pointed out that bringing evidence of widespread administrative wrongdoing to the notice of the house is the fundamental democratic duty of elected legislators. Misusing parliamentary privilege committees to persecute opposition members for exposing corruption struck at the very heart of constitutional democracy and legislative decorum.

Hailing the judicial ruling as a historic triumph for legislative integrity and constitutional values, Stalin affirmed that the truth cannot be concealed through partisan parliamentary maneuvers. He declared that the DMK will persistently hold corrupt rulers accountable before the public.
