DMK president M.K. Stalin warmly welcomed the collective decision taken by Chief Ministers of seven non-BJP ruled states to petition the Supreme Court of India seeking the immediate postponement of the NEET and JEE national entrance examinations. Stalin expressed sincere gratitude to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for convening the crucial inter-state conference that brought state leaderships together on a common platform to safeguard student health, safety, and educational futures during the coronavirus pandemic.
Stalin asserted that if the AIADMK administration in Tamil Nadu possesses genuine concern for student lives and truly opposes the imposition of NEET, it must abandon its passive bystander posture and immediately implead itself as a petitioner alongside the seven states. He highlighted that conducting nationwide examinations amidst soaring infection rates, severe transport shortages, and regional lockdowns imposes unbearable psychological distress on young aspirants and their families. A unified legal challenge before the apex court offers the most potent constitutional recourse.
Urging the state government to demonstrate courage and participate actively in the joint petition, Stalin reiterated that the DMK will persistently coordinate with federal democratic forces across India to defend student rights and defeat autocratic central diktats.
