DMK president M.K. Stalin challenged the AIADMK state administration to demonstrate genuine commitment to student welfare by immediately joining seven other state governments in moving the Supreme Court against conducting NEET and JEE examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic. Stalin criticized Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar for merely drafting symbolic letters to central authorities, stating that passive letter-writing is an ineffective, deceptive gesture that fails to provide concrete relief to anxious medical aspirants.
Stalin pointed out that when the Union government had repeatedly ignored unanimous resolutions passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly seeking permanent exemption from NEET, expecting informal ministerial correspondence to produce results was sheer political theatre. He questioned why Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami hesitated to join hands with Chief Ministers of neighboring and progressive states who were actively challenging the Union government's rigid scheduling in the apex court. Such administrative reluctance, Stalin argued, betrays the vital interests of Tamil Nadu youth.
Calling upon the ruling government to abandon superficial excuses and take prompt legal action alongside other states, Stalin emphasized that meaningful student protection requires resolute constitutional battles in court rather than meaningless public relations posturing.
