DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound joy and warmly welcomed the landmark verdict of the Supreme Court of India validating the constitutional authority of state governments to enact sub-categorization and provide internal reservation within Scheduled Caste quotas. Stalin highlighted that the apex court's progressive ruling represents a historic vindication of the pioneering social justice legislation enacted in 2009 under the visionary leadership of Muthamizharignar Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi.
Stalin recounted that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam administration had raised the combined Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservation to nineteen percent, providing eighteen percent for Scheduled Castes and one percent separately for Scheduled Tribes. Recognizing the profound socio-economic marginalization of the Arunthathiyar community, Kalaignar enacted the three percent internal reservation Act, ensuring equitable access to higher education and government employment. The Supreme Court's ruling decisively endorsed this affirmative measure, dismantling reactionary legal challenges that sought to invalidate internal reservation frameworks.
Hailing the judicial confirmation as a glorious triumph for Dravidian social justice, Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently defend affirmative action policies designed to empower the most oppressed sections of Tamil society toward dignified social mobility and educational excellence.
