DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed formal letters to the Chief Ministers of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala, appealing for inter-state solidarity and urging them to approach the Supreme Court jointly to demand the postponement of national NEET and JEE entrance examinations. Highlighting the severe health risks posed by the raging Covid-19 pandemic, Stalin emphasized that forcing lakhs of young students into crowded examination centers without widespread public transport or accommodation creates grave danger for families nationwide.
Stalin stressed that non-BJP ruled states must forge a united federal front to safeguard the health, safety, and academic interests of students against the rigid, unilateral decisions of the Union government. He pointed out that regional states share common socio-economic challenges, where vast rural populations and marginalized communities face insurmountable travel hurdles during prolonged pandemic restrictions. A collaborative legal petition presented by multiple state governments before the apex court would represent a formidable constitutional challenge against executive obstinacy.
Urging neighboring Chief Ministers to act promptly in unison, Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's commitment to building federal coalitions that defend state rights and prioritize citizen welfare over centralized administrative rigidity during national public health emergencies.
