DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK administration for announcing that only college students who had previously paid their semester examination fees would receive exemptions from writing examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic. Stalin pointed out that due to severe economic destruction, job losses, and lockdown distress, more than seventy percent of enrolled collegiate students across numerous institutions were unable to remit examination fees on schedule.
Stalin stated that conditioning academic relief upon prior fee payments constitutes an unconscionable discrimination against students from impoverished, rural, and working-class backgrounds. While the pandemic paralyzed economic circulation and depleted household finances across Tamil Nadu, expecting distressed families to prioritize university examination charges over survival was deeply callous. He argued that the state administration's bizarre criterion penalizes poverty rather than extending equitable humanitarian protection to the entire student community during an unprecedented global crisis.
Demanding an immediate correction of this discriminatory policy, Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to extend comprehensive examination waivers to all enrolled students without imposing conditional fee payment requirements. He emphasized that the DMK will persistently fight to guarantee educational equity and social justice for struggling students.
