DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami over his official press statement extending pandemic lockdown restrictions, charging that the release was filled with misleading claims that mocked the severe suffering of the people of Tamil Nadu. Stalin stated that while working-class families, unorganized laborers, and small traders were experiencing acute economic distress and livelihood collapse, the ruling administration was preoccupied with issuing hollow administrative statements without providing concrete relief.

Stalin charged that the AIADMK government had repeatedly used the Covid-19 health emergency as a convenient smokescreen to orchestrate massive financial corruption and allocate lucrative public tenders to favoured political contractors. Rather than deploying state treasury funds to transfer meaningful financial aid directly to families deprived of daily employment, the ruling dispensation remained indifferent to public destitution. He stressed that endless lockdown announcements without substantial economic packages only deepened popular resentment across urban and rural settlements.

Urging the state administration to abandon deceptive propaganda and halt corrupt contract practices immediately, Stalin demanded immediate direct cash support, food security guarantees, and structured debt relief for struggling households across the state.
