DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned Anna University's insensitive circular directing that names of students who failed to pay semester fees be displayed publicly on campus notice boards and their enrollments subsequently terminated. Stalin described the university administration's directive as completely inhumane and authoritarian, pointing out that families across Tamil Nadu were battling severe economic distress, job losses, and acute financial strain caused by the prolonged coronavirus pandemic.

Stalin argued that subjecting young engineering students to public humiliation and institutional ostracization for unavoidable financial difficulties is totally unacceptable in a civilized educational institution. Such coercive measures inflict immense psychological trauma on vulnerable youth, pushing many toward anxiety and despair during an unprecedented global health crisis. He questioned the moral justification of state-run universities adopting ruthless debt-collection tactics against their own aspiring student community.

Calling upon the university authorities and the state higher education department to withdraw the offensive notification immediately, Stalin demanded flexible fee payment timelines and fee waivers for distressed students. He reaffirmed that public universities must serve as compassionate nurturing grounds rather than commercial enterprises penalizing socio-economic vulnerability.
