DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government issue an immediate executive directive requiring medical insurance companies to settle all medical expenses incurred by government employees, teachers, and pensioners undergoing Covid-19 treatment. Stalin highlighted that despite faithfully paying monthly insurance subscriptions, numerous state personnel and retired staff were being denied cashless hospitalization or forced to pay exorbitant medical bills out of pocket during private hospital stays.

Stalin asserted that insurance providers failing to honor legitimate coronavirus medical claims should face immediate disqualification and regulatory penalties from the state administration. He noted that frontline public servants, administrative staff, and educators perform essential governance functions under hazardous pandemic conditions, making institutional healthcare protection an undeniable state obligation. Forcing vulnerable employees and pensioners to deplete their savings during health emergencies reflects severe administrative neglect.

Urging Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to intervene without delay, Stalin emphasized that the government must stand firmly behind its workforce. He affirmed that public servants and retired staff deserve comprehensive financial coverage and medical dignity rather than bureaucratic indifference from profit-driven insurance syndicates operating under official government patronage.
