DMK president M.K. Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to immediately convene a special session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to adopt a formal resolution rejecting the Union government's National Education Policy 2020. Stalin criticized the state administration for merely issuing vague verbal clarifications instead of utilizing the sovereign power of the legislative assembly to resist central educational overreach. He condemned the government's reluctance to take a firm constitutional stand against a policy that threatens regional progress.

Stalin pointed out that NEP 2020 poses an existential threat to Tamil Nadu's hard-won achievements in social justice, universal school access, bilingual policy, and provincial autonomy over curriculum design. By imposing centralized entrance evaluations, encouraging early vocational tracking, and promoting Sanskrit and Hindi, the policy seeks to resurrect hereditary occupational structures and exclude first-generation learners from higher education. Stalin stressed that education must remain an empowering instrument of social mobility rather than an elite exclusionary filter.

Demanding that the AIADMK administration stop compromising student welfare to appease central rulers, Stalin affirmed that the DMK will lead a comprehensive popular resistance against NEP 2020. He pledged to restore state authority over public education upon assuming office.
