DMK president M.K. Stalin paid rich tributes to legendary social reformer, political luminary, and pioneering Dalit crusader Diwan Bahadur Rettamalai Srinivasan on his memorial anniversary. Stalin recalled that Rettamalai Srinivasan dedicated his entire lifetime to dismantling oppressive caste hierarchies, demanding civic equality, and securing political representation for scheduled communities across colonial and post-colonial India. He emphasized that the leader's historic advocacy alongside Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Round Table Conferences remains an inspiring milestone in India's social emancipation movement.
Stalin highlighted that successive DMK administrations led by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had consistently honored Rettamalai Srinivasan's monumental contributions to social justice. The DMK government constructed a grand memorial hall in Chennai to commemorate his memory and persistently urged the Union government to release a special postage stamp recognizing his national standing. Stalin noted that keeping alive the memory of anti-caste stalwarts provides vital ideological strength to modern progressive movements.
Reaffirming the DMK's commitment to egalitarian ideals, Stalin pledged to carry forward Rettamalai Srinivasan's mission for comprehensive social dignity, equal educational access, and substantive empowerment for all marginalized communities and underprivileged citizens.
