Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin extended his wholehearted moral solidarity to the ongoing continuous hunger strike conducted by the Makkal Pathai movement demanding the complete abolition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Commending the activists and students for their passionate commitment to defending educational equality, Stalin emphasized that NEET represents an unjust filter designed to shatter the medical aspirations of rural and underprivileged students while favoring commercial coaching academies.

However, expressing deep concern for the health and lives of the protesting youths, Stalin earnestly appealed to the organizers to abandon their fast-unto-death approach. He stressed that every young life is immensely precious to the future of Tamil Nadu, urging them instead to channel their righteous determination into building broad-based popular democratic mobilizations. Stalin argued that collective mass movements involving students, parents, and civic associations across the state would exert irresistible pressure on stubborn ruling establishments.

Reaffirming the DMK's resolute opposition to centralized entrance examinations, Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK administration will take decisive legal and legislative steps to permanently scrap NEET in Tamil Nadu, restoring equitable higher education access for all.
