DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Union Ministry of Culture for appointing a sixteen-member expert committee to study the origin and evolution of Indian culture that completely excluded Tamil scholars, southern researchers, women, and minority representatives. Stalin observed that while the country was reeling under severe pandemic fatalities, economic distress, and widespread youth unemployment, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party prioritized imposing a monolithic Vedic narrative upon a fundamentally pluralistic nation.
Stalin highlighted that modern archaeological discoveries, notably at Keezhadi, provide undeniable scientific proof of an ancient, secular Dravidian civilization flourishing along the Vaigai river basin over two thousand six hundred years ago. Excluding scholars specializing in Dravidian linguistics and peninsular archaeology clearly exposed an ideological agenda to erase non-Sanskrit cultural traditions. Stalin noted that true historical research must reflect the composite, multi-ethnic, and multilingual reality of the Indian subcontinent rather than sectarian mythologies.
Stalin appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dissolve the biased committee immediately and reconstitute a balanced, independent panel comprising eminent historians and archaeologists representing all major cultural streams across India and respecting the federal linguistic diversity of the republic.
