DMK president M.K. Stalin criticized the ruling AIADMK administration for issuing conflicting and irresponsible announcements regarding school reopening amid the raging pandemic. Stalin highlighted statements by School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, who unilaterally announced partial resumption while stating that Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar and the Chief Minister would later determine teacher attendance and curriculum guidelines. He questioned whether the cabinet conducted any formal scientific consultation or inter-departmental planning before issuing official government orders.

Stalin argued that asking parents to sign liability waivers shifted state responsibility entirely onto anxious families struggling with health uncertainties. He pointed out that inadequate sanitation, cramped classrooms, and lack of preventive health screening in government schools presented severe contagion risks for children and their households. Stalin stressed that public education authorities must prioritize lives above bureaucratic haste and demonstrate transparent safety arrangements before resuming physical instruction.
