DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the Union government for diverting Goods and Services Tax compensation revenues earmarked for provincial administrations to meet other expenditures. Citing audit disclosures, Stalin pointed out that New Delhi had committed an unprecedented statutory breach by withholding legitimate fiscal dues belonging to state treasuries. He condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and state Finance Minister D. Jayakumar for failing to demand Tamil Nadu's lawful dues despite being aware of the diversion.
Stalin argued that the state administration's submissive posture severely crippled Tamil Nadu's fiscal autonomy during a catastrophic health pandemic. With revenue collections dwindling and emergency relief expenditures escalating, withholding constitutionally guaranteed GST compensation pushed the state treasury toward acute financial distress. Stalin observed that previous chief ministers had vigorously defended the state's financial sovereignty, whereas the current AIADMK leadership remained paralyzed by political subservience.
Calling for immediate administrative mobilization, Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government present a decisive ultimatum to the Union Finance Ministry. He affirmed that the DMK will relentlessly champion federal rights and fight for the recovery of every rupee owed to Tamil citizens.
