DMK president M.K. Stalin led an opposition protest demonstration in Kanchipuram to condemn the Union government's passage of three contentious agricultural laws and the AIADMK administration's subservient endorsement. Addressing farmers, party workers, and alliance leaders, Stalin stated that the enactments represent a systemic threat to agricultural livelihoods across India. He pointed out that opening farm produce markets to unregulated corporate entities strips cultivators of bargaining power and compromises food security.
Stalin criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for claiming agricultural credentials while consistently voting in favor of central policies that hurt rural producers. He explained that farmers in Tamil Nadu depend on established procurement centres and regulated markets to shield them from volatile private traders. By dismantling these institutional protections, the ruling dispensations abandoned the peasantry during acute economic hardship.
Vowing that the DMK will intensify protests across every district, Stalin called upon farming households to unite in defense of their ancestral lands. He pledged that a future DMK administration will enact protective agrarian policies and safeguard local economic stability. He reiterated that defending farmland and rural livelihood rights remains a central duty for all democratic movements across Tamil Nadu.
