DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the special CBI court verdict acquitting all thirty-two accused individuals in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case. Terming the destruction of any place of worship completely unjust, illegal, and an assault on India's secular constitution, Stalin asserted that the ruling set a troubling precedent for national jurisprudence. He criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation for failing to discharge its investigative duties impartially, asserting that the premier agency had reduced itself to a caged parrot serving the Bharatiya Janata Party administration.
Stalin highlighted that the Supreme Court had previously categorized the mosque's demolition as an egregious violation of the rule of law. He argued that the investigative agency's inability to establish accountability, despite abundant documentary and video evidence, dealt a severe blow to public faith in equal justice. Stalin pointed out that compromise by constitutional institutions erodes secular guarantees that bind the republic together.
Calling upon democratic movements to uphold communal harmony, Stalin affirmed that the DMK remains committed to protecting minority rights and constitutional governance against majoritarian overreach. He reaffirmed that secular democracy requires vigilant citizens and an uncompromising judicial framework to prevent partisan subversion of constitutional principles.
