DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a passionate clarion call to village panchayats across Tamil Nadu, urging grassroots communities to convene vibrant Gram Sabha assemblies and pass unanimous resolutions rejecting the Union government's three contentious agricultural laws. Stalin emphasized that the Gram Sabha is the true constitutional sanctuary of direct democracy in India, where rural citizens exercise sovereign power to deliberate upon policies affecting their livelihood, land, and economic security.
Stalin warned that the newly enacted central farm legislation was designed to dismantle traditional agricultural produce market committees, abolish fair price guarantees, and surrender smallholder farmers to the monopolistic control of corporate agribusinesses. He pointed out that rural communities had both the legal right and moral duty to record their collective opposition to statutes enacted without state consultation or peasant consent. Stalin urged village presidents, ward members, and agrarian laborers to stand together in defense of their agrarian heritage.
Stalin declared that when village assemblies rise with collective resolve, no authoritarian government can ignore their demands. He pledged the DMK's total institutional support for every village panchayat fighting for rural self-reliance, agrarian rights, and local democracy.
