Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for abruptly cancelling the statutory Gandhi Jayanti Gram Sabha meetings across all village panchayats in Tamil Nadu. Stalin pointed out that the government took this desperate, anti-democratic step out of immense fear that elected village panchayat presidents—including many affiliated with the ruling party itself—were preparing to adopt unanimous resolutions condemning the Union government's newly enacted agricultural legislation. He termed the last-minute cancellation a blatant subversion of grassroots constitutional democracy.

Stalin declared that the DMK will not allow the voices of rural citizens to be muffled by administrative intimidation. He announced that party leaders, grassroots functionaries, and local body representatives would directly visit rural villages, meet farmers in their fields, and explain the devastating consequences of the AIADMK's betrayal in supporting the central farm laws. Stalin emphasized that rural communities were fully conscious of how corporate contract farming would destroy local agricultural markets.

Stalin affirmed that the DMK's planned mass outreach campaign would proceed vigorously despite government obstacles. He reiterated that popular peasant resistance will ultimately defeat both state and central agrarian injustices.
